Who. Am. I. That question of identity, of the self’s place in a comparatively narcissistic society – a society which values the essence of being different as desirable, yet which attempts to be different in the same way…ahem. Sorry. I get carried away sometimes.

I’m afraid I don’t really have an answer, except to say that I’m a university student, studying a double degree of Creative Arts (major: Creative Writing) and Arts (major: currently unknown). I love me some learnin'!

And that I’m a nineteen-year-old Christian (feel free to ask me anything, I don't bite!) who is frustrated with the late release dates of most films in Australian cinemas, who also likes to read (but starts many more books than he finishes), and gets irritated when drivers don’t use their indicators. Tut-tut.

And I’m a Grammar Nazi. That is all.

Words are my life. Dreaming is my fuel. Imagination is my sanity. God's love is my motivation.

I'm a special swing admin over at DailyLitRecognition, so please suggest any good literature pieces you see. More information and my guidelines can be found here.

DLD is now DLR

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 19, 2014, 12:01 AM
Hey everyone!

Just wanted to put up a journal saying that DailyLitDeviations is no more. It's now been replaced by Daily Lit Recognition: :iconlitrecognition:. (I'd like to take this opportunity to give a big shout out to SilverInkblot, who's doing a fantastic job of sorting through the rubble and building a civilisation, phoenix-like from the ashes.) I've volunteered to be a special swing-admin, which means I will fill in for any of the other admins who are absent for whatever reason. However, I can put forward suggested pieces at any time, so feel free to suggest away!

To suggest a piece, simply note me with 'DLR suggestion' in the subject line, and include a link to the deviation, plus a statement detailing why you think the piece is worthy of recognition! (Even one sentence is fine!) Easy as that!

You can suggest poetry or prose, but DLR does not accept fanfiction (sorry!), and I don't accept deviations that form parts of a series (though you should check out VertigoArt and/or callerofcrows because they'll be involved with a bi-monthly article dedicated to chaptered works :w00t:). I tend to go for pieces that say a lot in as few words as possible. I also prefer subtlety over being explicit, though if there's a piece you love, send it my way and I'm sure I'll feel the same way!

Thanks to my watchers, you lovely people!
I feel like I should do something for you guys, so, if you've read this far, note me a DLR suggestion and say that you watch me somewhere in the message. The first fifteen will get a journal feature! (three journals with five deviants each, or five with three each? Let me know in the comments below!)

  • Mood: Eager
  • Listening to: Mumford & Sons
  • Reading: 'A Game of Thrones' by George R.R. Martin
  • Watching: Friends
  • Eating: Chocolate
  • Drinking: Tea

Two for TeaJohn loved tea. Just the thought of it made him feel warm inside. Sometimes it even felt as though tea were a part of him. But then, he was a teapot.
No. He had to face it. He was an ex-teapot. It was six months since the last time he'd been used to make tea. Six months since he'd ended up in this charity shop. He'd started off in the window, then been moved back to the table, then onto a low shelf, then a top shelf and now he was residing on what could only be called the 'junk shelf': sharing space with a haggard baby doll, some statement jewellery and a couple of battered paperbacks. He couldn't help but feel bitter. Yes, he had been through the wars but he knew he was still capable of providing good service. Of fulfilling the role for which he had been created.
It was nearly closing time. The shop had been empty but one last customer had slipped in. She had a few shopping bags with her: her last call before home, John guessed. He hadn't seen her before but the male volunteer

FluffThe Diary of His Supreme and Condescending Majesty, King Stalwart Prettipaws, the One and Only
14th April
The housemaid has just given birth to a second child. It really is too much. So much noise. So much commotion. The footman appears to have forgotten I exist. I had to give the order twice this morning before I was fed.
However. I am the King - I must be gracious about the situation. They may be just servants but it is their home too. It would be cruel of me to expect them to leave at this stressful time. Perhaps I will go and stay in another palace for a while. My kingdom is certainly large enough for me to be able to find something to my liking.
Of course, there have been all those skirmishes with local pretenders to my throne recently. But I think the situation is now in paw. (No-one can yell and fluff themself up like I can.) It has undeniably been stressful though. And now with the staff reproducing… All in all it might be a good idea to get away for
Oh, Bad LuckIn the spring of 1313, after 13 years of marriage, it became evident an heir was finally on the way for the King and Queen of Deviancia.
“In honour of our future child, I shall add an extra month to the year,” said the King. “To bring the baby luck!”
The Prince was born on the 13th day of the 13th month.
It was a Friday.
“Really?” said the Queen. “You couldn’t have worked out this was going to happen?”
“My love,” said the King, trying to soothe his wife’s angst. “Let’s not give into triskaidekaphobia!”
But he did feel uneasy, and decided to invite the local fairies to the christening to be on the safe side.
There were the usual presents of handsomeness, long life, intelligence. Then it came to the turn of the youngest fairy. She was desperate to get to the lavatory (fairies have bladders the size of a peanut) and didn’t think carefully about the wording of her gift.
“He’ll be abl

Thanks so much! And thank you heaps for the faves and the llama badge :D
I'm not really that fussed on grammar in comments and such: just when people profess to be good at writing, but they're deviations are riddled with typos—that's what really gets to me!

Thanks again
